The Man U game had draw written all over it. The phases of our play are too slow and we are not moving through the lines with any incision. I thought Gibbs and Sagna offered decent width , but by the time they received the ball the opposition had regathered and they found themselves isolated with limited options.
All in all the team has lost belief and momentum and a pivotal moment is needed.
On the 3rd of March 2013 we lost 2-1 at White Hart Lane. Ten days later we went to the Allianz arena and defeated the champions of Europe. That propelled us on to finish 2013 with the highest Premiership points total.
Another moment of that magnitude is needed, but unfortunately Wenger, a reactive manager, refuses to address the current balance of the team. Last season it took a series of mistakes for him to drop Szcesney and I was hoping the Liverpool game would convince him that its time to give certain members of the squad a similar kick. The Wilshire/Arteta and Carzola/Ozil combos are not working, but with the current injury predicament does Wenger have a choice? Anyway its time to readdress the balance of the team.
I expect whatever team Wenger puts out tomorrow to win a close game, but that wont provide the boost of a two leg 3-2 aggregate win against Munich.
Bayern have score 18 goals without reply in the Bundesliga, but we are the kings of clean sheets.
With Flamini back in contention for selection, Wednesday is prime time Wenger and Bould to tip the balance back in our favor, but they must be brave with the team selection and pick players in form. Dropping Giroud or Arteta/Wilshire is not as unthinkable as it may seem.
Come on Arsenal!!!
